Minecraft Biome Finder

Paste a world seed, choose Java or Bedrock and the version that generated your chunks, then highlight biomes on the map. The finder uses the same engine as the full seed map; this page opens with biome highlighting ready so you can scan climate, coasts and rare regions without digging through settings.

Choose a point on the map to place a coordinate pin. Drag to explore another area, or open a marker to view its structure details.

0 biome selected. Choose a biome below to highlight it on the map; the search box only narrows the names in this panel. If no matching color is visible, zoom out, explore another area, or try a different Y level. Turn on Fade others for a clearer outline.

What a biome finder actually shows

A biome finder turns the world seed into a map of climate and terrain types: plains, forests, oceans, deserts, mountains, and rarer patches such as Cherry Grove, Mushroom Fields, Mangrove Swamp, Ice Spikes, Deep Dark and Pale Garden. You are not downloading a save file. The browser calculates biome tiles from the seed, edition and version you select.

Players use it to plan a survival start, pick a base biome, judge travel barriers, or check a YouTube or Realm seed before committing a season. Hover a tile for coordinates and the biome name. Zoom out to compare how far a rare biome sits from spawn.

Java and Bedrock can look similar on modern terrain and still disagree on spawn and several structures. Always match the edition and version of the world you will play. Newly generated chunks follow the selected version; already-generated chunks in an updated world keep their original generation.

How to use this biome finder

  1. 01Open the world in Minecraft and type /seed in chat, then copy the full number including a leading minus sign if present.
  2. 02Paste the seed above and press GO, or generate a random seed if you are shopping for a new world.
  3. 03Set Java or Bedrock and the version that created the chunks you care about, not only the newest label on the list.
  4. 04Keep the Overworld selected unless you are inspecting Nether wastes, crimson forest, warped forest or End biomes.
  5. 05Use the Biomes tab to search and highlight one or more biomes. Enable Fade others when you want only the selected climates to stand out.
  6. 06Click the map, read X/Z, and verify the important biome in a Creative copy before moving a survival base.

Rare biomes people actually search for

Cherry Grove, Mushroom Fields, Ice Spikes, Mangrove Swamp, Pale Garden and Deep Dark are the usual reasons someone opens a biome finder. Select those biomes in the Biomes tab, then enable Fade others to isolate their colors. Clear the selection or add plains, meadow or dark forest if you are choosing a starter base instead of hunting a screenshot biome.

Java versus Bedrock biome layout

Modern overworld climate can look familiar across editions, but spawn handling and several structures still differ. A Java mushroom island coordinate is not proof the same Bedrock seed has a mooshroom island there. Use the Java map or the Bedrock map that matches the device, launcher or Realm. Preview and snapshot selectors can move borders; treat them as planning candidates.

Height, caves and what the surface map cannot show

Overworld biome tiles follow the selected Y sample. High Y is the right default for surface climates after 1.18. Lush caves, dripstone caves, sulfur caves and Deep Dark sit below the surface and may need a lower Y or an in-game check. The map is a planning overlay, not a cave scanner.

When the map disagrees with your world

Confirm the seed digits, edition, version, dimension and that the chunks were not generated in an older release. Servers can also differ because of datapacks, experiments, add-ons or custom generation. If a highlighted biome is missing in survival, check those inputs before assuming the finder failed.

Biome finder FAQ

Does this work for Java and Bedrock?

Yes. Switch the edition control to the world you play, then match the version string. Do not paste a Java coordinate into a phone or console world and expect the same biome.

How do I find Cherry Grove or Mushroom Fields?

Select them in the Biomes tab and enable Fade others. Zoom out from spawn, look for the highlighted patches, and hover for coordinates. Add or remove biomes in the Biomes tab.

Why is Deep Dark hard to see?

Deep Dark is an underground climate. Surface tiles at high Y often miss it. Drop Y or treat Ancient City markers as a hint, then confirm below the world in game.

Can I use a YouTube seed on Bedrock?

Only if that video used Bedrock and the same version family. Many showcase seeds are Java-only even when terrain looks similar.

Does my seed leave the browser?

Biome tiles are calculated in browser workers. The seed is not sent to a remote map-rendering service.

Is every biome position exact?

Climate layout is deterministic for a seed, edition and version. Caves, custom worlds, experiments and already-generated chunks can still disagree with a fresh map.

How is this different from the full seed map?

The engine is the same. This URL opens biome highlighting so a search for biome finder lands on the tool people meant to use. Java and Bedrock pages keep every overlay.
