Nether route planning
What this Nether Fortress Finder shows
The finder calculates Nether Fortress candidates from the selected seed, edition and version. Each marker gives an X/Z area to inspect in the Nether. It does not guarantee an exposed bridge, a convenient entrance or a safe path through the surrounding terrain.
Fortresses can cross open lava, cut into netherrack or meet other difficult terrain. Use the map to choose a direction and distance, then prepare blocks, fire resistance and a return route before travelling.
Java and Bedrock structure placement is not interchangeable. A Fortress coordinate found in Java mode should not be used for a Bedrock world, even when the seed number is identical.
How to find a Nether Fortress
- 01Copy the complete seed from your world settings or with /seed, keeping the minus sign when present.
- 02Paste it above, press GO, and select the edition and version that match your world.
- 03The page starts in the Nether with Fortress selected. Open the Finder tab to compare nearby candidates.
- 04Choose a candidate by direction and distance, not only by which marker appears first.
- 05Click the marker to copy its Nether X/Z, then plan the approach from an existing portal or Nether hub.
- 06Verify the structure in game before extending a permanent tunnel, ice road or portal network.
Use Nether coordinates on the Nether side
The marker coordinates belong to the Nether. When linking from the Overworld, divide Overworld X and Z by eight for an approximate Nether portal position, or multiply Nether X and Z by eight when estimating the Overworld side. Portal placement and nearby valid exit space can shift the final connection.
A marker does not describe the entrance
A Fortress can be partly buried or suspended above lava. The marker helps locate the structure area, but terrain still decides whether you approach from above, tunnel through netherrack or bridge across open space. Carry enough blocks and mark the path home.
Fortress and Bastion are separate targets
Nether Fortresses are searched for Blaze spawners and Nether Wart, while Bastion Remnants serve different loot and progression goals. Keep only the marker you need enabled first, then add Bastions when comparing a longer Nether route.
Check the world settings first
A wrong seed digit, edition or version can move every result. Existing chunks in an upgraded world retain what was generated earlier. Mods, datapacks, add-ons and custom server generation can also alter or remove expected structures.
Nether Fortress Finder questions
Does this page work for Java and Bedrock?
Yes. Select the edition that created your world because the two editions can place Fortresses at different coordinates.
Are the coordinates in the Overworld?
No. Fortress markers use Nether coordinates. Apply the eight-to-one coordinate scale only when planning a connected Overworld portal.
Will the marker lead directly to a Blaze spawner?
No. It identifies a Fortress candidate area. Explore the generated corridors and bridges in game to locate Blaze spawners and other rooms.
Why is the Fortress buried?
Nether terrain can surround parts of a Fortress. A valid structure may have no obvious exposed entrance from your approach direction.
Why is there no Fortress at the coordinate?
Recheck seed, edition, version and signs first. Old chunks and modified world generation can also differ from a fresh vanilla map.
Can I search from my current portal instead of spawn?
Use the map to compare the marker with your portal coordinates. The nearby list uses spawn as its reference, but the map remains useful for planning from any known point.

Map and coordinate reports
For a missing or misplaced result, include the full seed, Java or Bedrock, game version, dimension, coordinates, and what appeared in the world. Mention mods, datapacks, add-ons, experiments, server software, or old chunks when relevant.
